I believe everyone is best served by what they were born with. If you can relieve symptoms without surgery, you will have a longer lasting solution, so that is my first priority. Failing that, I believe in choosing the surgery that is the least invasive and will cause the fewest long term problems, but will solve the specific problem for the patient. I also think my patients must be fully informed so that they can make decisions on their care, rather than imposing my choices on them.
