As a neuro-oncologist and director of the Scripps Cancer Center's neuro-oncology program, Tresa McGranahan, MD, PhD, cares for patients with brain or spinal cord tumors, including tumors that start in the brain or spinal cord and spread to other parts of the body. She also provides care for neurologic complications of cancer treatments, such as cognitive changes, headaches, neuropathy and immunotherapy complications. Dr McGranahan's philosophy is that the brain makes us who we are and is our most important organ. Unfortunately, as the organ with the least ability to heal itself, the brain is vulnerable to problems related to many cancer treatments.
