Raymond P. Roos, MD, is a board-certified neurologist specializing in neurodegenerative diseases such as amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), prion diseases, multiple sclerosis (MS), inflammatory central nervous system diseases, and neuropathy. Dr. Roos is an established expert in the field and directs the ALS/Motor Neuron Disease clinic. His research focuses on using molecular techniques to better understand the pathogenesis of MS and ALS, with a particular interest in identifying genes and gene products critical to the death and survival of motor neurons. Dr. Roos and his colleagues utilize viruses and transgenic mouse models to investigate the mechanisms by which mutant genes lead to the death of target neurons.
