Gerald J. Calegan, M.D.

About

Dr. Calegan is a fellowship-trained neurologist specializing in movement disorders, including Parkinson’s disease, tremors, dystonia, and advanced treatments such as Deep Brain Stimulation (DBS) and botulinum toxin injections (Botox, Xeomin, Dysport, and Myobloc). Dr. Calegan earned his medical degree from Tulane University and completed his neurology residency and fellowship at the University of Alabama-Birmingham. Since joining The NeuroMedical Center in 2006, he has co-developed Baton Rouge’s first Deep Brain Stimulation Center and performed over 400 DBS surgeries. Dr. Calegan treats all neurologic conditions and emphasizes the "Four Pillars of Health" — diet, exercise, sleep, and stress management — for optimal patient outcomes.
