Dr. Tanya N. Turan trained in neurology and vascular neurology at Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia and was recruited to MUSC in 2008 as an academic clinician. She is a Professor of Neurology with tenure and the Director of the Stroke Neurology Division.Dr. Turan's research activities are focused on understanding the roles of traditional and novel risk factors in stroke-related atherosclerosis. She has been awarded several NIH grants to study novel MR imaging techniques for identifying high-risk, intracranial plaque features.
